How do I make fishing fun?

It's pretty much the most boring shit in the world to me, but I feel like it's supposed to be fun.

It's because you have to start by taking a piss on the nice fish. IF you're not drinking enough or singing loud enough for the fish to hear you on the line.

The "real" problem between those lil' fishies and you is a personality conflict. The "critical" point is knowing what songs to sing and more importantly to the fish, what songs not to sing to lure the contrary little bastard in.

If you don't sing loud, you're not a true fisherman. True fishermen don't care about subtleties like being on key or singing pretty, it's got to be about VOLUME, in the ages old tradition of "SCREAM SINGING", and God help you if you dare to do it sober.

I like it because I can bring a cooler of good beer and just sit down and relax. It's a nice break from the day to day monotony of being a wage slave. I've noticed that people that aren't comfortable with just sitting down and enjoying the quiet relaxation don't do well with fishing.

It's a way to find peace and quiet for a little while, maybe interrupted by a little excitement from time to time.
Don't get worked up about end results, it's the process. Catching something is optional, though you like to know that in a pinch needing food you could switch over to a certain bait and certain type of area and pull out something edible.
Otherwise, just let your thoughts drift and enjoy the calm.

If lack of stimulation results in boredom then you're not cut out for it. My ADHD ass tried for years as a kid to enjoy fishing with the rest of my boy scout troop but it never clicked for me.

I thought fishing was boring too until I finally went when the bite was "on" and we had them dialed in. Like, back to back redfish and speckled trout on nearly every cast. Or just wait until you get a fight with a proper big fish.

There's absolutely nothing like hearing your drag scream from your reel when it happens for the first time and then every time after.
