>>1265404Yeah it’s hard to get the pins and plates all centered perfectly without the breaker tool. But as long as you have the master link and aren’t retarded, you won’t need the hammer to reassemble it.
I mean main reason I bought the breaker is because street riding will fuck up chains quick and I didn’t want 25% of my chain to be master links or haggard hammered in links. Makes it a lot easier to properly replace 2 links with the original chain. If you don’t get the pins centered correctly, that chain will fall apart within a few hours.
>>1265615Replace it with a big single chainwheel, who cares. The lowest gears are useless unless you’re riding up actual mountains regularly. So if you do a single chainwheel about the size of the larger option already on there, you will have all your high cruising gears and still be low enough to go over a bridge.
You can get chainwheels in any size so think about what you want.
Or fix the shifter and keep it.
