What kind of snack does /out/ take with them when innawoods? For short hikes I take me a clif bar or two, or a nature valley bar, and then some beef jerky.

My grandmother taught me to back these really delicious Banana/Oatmeal/Walnut cookies when I was a young boy. About a year ago I did some research to find their nutritional information and found that they were high in calories and had a LOT of nutrients to the points where they are comparable to some multivitamins. I've since changed the recipe by adding in raisins. I've also switched out some of the white flour for a mixture of 40% Quinoa/50% White Flour/10% Vanillia Protein Powder to make it more nutritious and to add a bit more fiber. As long as they are sealed properly they will stay good for at least a week outside of the freezer. I'd post the recipe for you, but it's a secret. I wont even let my girlfriend sell them in her bakery.

I also make elk jerky pretty often and vacuum seal it. [Pic Related]

I will also carry almonds, pistachios, sunflower seeds for a quick snack.

If we've got an ice chest I'll bring along some ground elk meat for burgers. Many drunken campers agree that I make the best burgers around.

Tier one, EDC snacks, two energy bars. I have these in my day back while walking around town, eat them for snacks at work, etc.

Tier two, energy bars, trail mix, mostly nuts, plus chocolate. Some dry fruit.

If I have it, fruit. Apples usually, oranges, etc.
