This has been more my experience in these areas. I'm in VT, and I've only ever seen squirrels and birds. I've seen the occasional snake, and a fuck ton of newts, but aside from them nothing. There was this one time I received a warning by some fellow hikers that there was a bear ahead, but I never saw it when I went through. In fact, the only time I ever saw any bears or meese it was on the road.

Actually roughly similar to Maine. When I lived in the suburbs of Southern Maine I would see deer in my backyard every week. When I moved to a rural small town in the Northern part, where the entire community were hardcore hunters because it's literally the only form of entertainment available, I'd have to go seriously deep innawoods to encounter a few.

I have nothing against hunting, but huntingfags need to understand that if you shoot on sight anything you ever spot moving, wildlife isn't gonna come within several miles of the town boundary anymore. The things aren't stupid.
