Also, does time of the day matter? It was a nice cool morning, so I wonder if that had any effect?
My current lures include a couple spinners: One with a 'body' then a tail, one with just a tail, and one spoon; some very small (an eighth-ounce jug head with a small hook) rubber minnow about an inch long (the one which was chased), a silver-bottom rattle minnow, and today I've added some smaller rubber minnows (both dark and bright, in natural colors), and an artificial worm.
I do have some small hooks and some worms to use, which will be my first attempt when I return later today.
The creek is very clear, ranging from an inch or two deep, to maybe two feet deep. I've read that in shallow water, bluegill might be skittish, but I'll keep trying.
Also, the large trout (I don't know what kind of fish, really; brown(?) with a very dark stripe down its side) has been in that area for a while, and there's another, larger, one in a pool a bit farther down.
This creek relies more on heavy rains to wash larger fish in, so I don't really plan to keep anything.
