I phrased it poorly. My house is very big and very old and not exactly well insulated (old farm house that my great grandpa built, I just inherited it last spring) . I can't justify keeping it very warm because I lose so much heat. Putting in new insulation is going to happen soon. It's only a cost thing as far as I refuse to spend the money to keep it comfortably warm when it barely holds heat. I could definitely keep it warmer but I'm a cheap bastard.

I'm getting older and find myself less able to be uncomfortable while camping. I used to camp with a tarp and bedroll. I have spent the night sitting up against a tree before. Now I pack a tent, inflatible matress, down sleeping bag, and a thermarest pack pillow.
Also, when backpacking I rarely build a fire. I just use my pocket stove for cooking.

I car camp frequently as well. This was this last weekend. Only had a day off, was able to get me and the misses out for a night away from all the bullshit. It was very nice, and convenient. Was able to bring my chainsaw and axe to gather and cut actual firewood, bring the nice big blow up mattress, our full size BBQ for the trout we caught and hot dogs. Got to sleep in our comfy Coleman four man tent, which I don't give a fuck what you outists say about shit tier Coleman, I've had that tent for about 7 years now, and it's never leaked, torn or anything. It's a heavy SOB, but camping out of my truck means I don't give a single fuck.
