Hell I didn't even know we had foxes down the coast until a few days ago, I've heard there are boars around where I am but nothing over a hundred kilos, cairns have ones up to 250 though.
Whether your inside or outside in Australia there's going to be spiders, It's normal here in houses to see spiders webs in the corners of bedrooms. I'd be fine sleeping outside with a tarp as long as I was sleeping on an elevated platform and had my shoes stuffed with something to stop spiders crawling in them while i'm asleep, that and maybe an overnight fire to keep the mozzies away.
