Imagine if you banned pickup trucks in order to reduce traffic deaths, and then I asked you if traffic deaths had gone down.
If you said "well, pickup truck deaths have gone down" then you wouldn't be answering a meaningful question. An individual who dies in a pickup truck isn't any more or less dead than somebody who dies on a moped.
The only reason you would use such a metric is if you either believed that gun deaths were especially bad compared to other forms of homicide or suicide, or if you were trying to push a political agenda.
I believe that you started out believing "more guns = more crime" and because you were sure you were right, you didn't bother to look for evidence.
I hope you kill yourself, and I hope you do it with a gun, because that way you'll be way more dead than if you used a knife.
