1) synthetic moisture wicking shirts. They work, but at the end of the day they will stink, so are basically one-use only before washing is necessary. However, a sink wash can work once or twice before a proper washing machine clean...
2) Or light merino. Merino soaks up sweat and depending on the colour may still show it, but it dries very quick even as you wear it and it doesn't smell for 3-4 wears.
3) You can also try "roomier" linen shirts. They'll also show the sweat spots/stains quickly, but they dry very very quick.
If it's a quiet trail and seems no one is around, it's not too buggy, and the sun isn't too bad (I'm pale as fuck, so gotta use SPF 1000), I just take my shirt off.
Cotton is the worst in heat, because it's a sponge but also dries very slowly.
