Does anyone actually set shit up like OP's pic? Looks more like a photo shoot for a home goods magazine.
Alternatively, it reminds me of those tents in colonial Africa/India that you'd see in old movies, Hemingway stories, etc., where some mustached barrel-chested chap with a pith helmet and sleeves rolled up struts around saying things like "Sambo! Bring the long gun."

There are a number of venues in the US and indeed across the world where - I don't know if they set it up each time or it's set up permanently - they've made a business model of renting out these glamorous tents for overnight stays. You overpay, arrive, it's all set up, you just chill and look at the nature and go to sleep.

Never heard of anyone camping like this privately.

I'm planning on doing it when I get 50 acres to live in while I build a stone house on the weekends. Anyone who'd rather sleep in a tent is fucking stupid, that shit is plastic. I love camping and the convenience of a tent, but ew.

Also, these types of structures are located on mountain trails and long-distance trails oftentimes.

though "glamping" is just what they call cabin/quonset hut type accomodation with electricity. Glamping in the US in those teepees or whatever is just as public, you're right on top of your neighbors (from the ones I've seen).

I'd just build my own in the wild or rent a cabin. Being in a hot tub in the middle of the winter in the Rockies looking at the stars is incredible. So warm...

Where the fuck in Europe do you live that cabins are considered camping?

They're common here, but no one considers them camping or even anything equivalent. If they have running electricity, water etc. they're basically considered a zero-amenities subcategory of hotels. If they're trailside it's considered multi-day hiking with a daypack. I've never met anyone who claimed they were going camping in a cabin.

Her 'Cottage' is a 6 bedroom mansion on a river.
Her new cottage is an 8 bedroom mansion that is twice the size of the old one.

She's always off to the 'cottage' to live in a house worth 3 orders of magnitude more than the one I grew up in.

4 fireplaces, 5 bathrooms, 8 bedrooms, a bar, 2 kitchens, tennis courts and a private beach. And they still call it the 'cottage'

Glamping is a thing in Canada too. Europeans may not understand this concept, due to their lack of available woods. But in a way it's a good thing: sectioned-out campsites often with designated fire pits and pit toilets, all for a nightly fee. Think of it as a containment zone. It reduces the number of retards going out and chopping down live trees, shitting wherever they please, and starting dangerous fires. Many provincial parks also have designated campsites, and these serve as a good base for day hikes, swimming, and other out stuff. If you want wild camping, you go onto Crown Land, where you can camp wherever.

It's an extension of all the fancy-tits novelty hotels that rich Europeans stay in, like the carved snow castle or a gigantic tree house with jacuzzis and shit in them. It's more of a retreat/ bnb thing than actual camping.
