Where I come from, you can get ticks from hedgerows in the city. I live in a village and do lots of outdoor work (including in the forest) so I get at least one tick a week in summer. My mum got Lyme disease

US north east, you cant even walk through your yard without picking up one. You walk through anything thicker than that and your picking them off for an hour. Haven't got lime, but that's probably just luck as I've had probably 10 24h+ ticks in the past few years.
This spring alone I've pulled off at least 50 and I haven't even been out much.
My strategy is shorts and short sleeve because you can usually feel them crawling up. Most people say long sleeve + pants but then they get on that and can linger, when you get in your car, sit down at home, so instead of just plucking the off your legs and maybe having a few get by you spend the next 3 days finding them bitten on your hairline

Even if they did, why would they pull the lyme vaccine because of anti-vaxx sentiment, but we can still get every other vaccine? Lyme disease isn't even close to the deadliest thing we vaccinate against, so the risks are paltry "even for a vaccine". I feel like this article is some sort of deflective propaganda. I mean it's from Vox so what do you expect.

Othwerwise we'd have been able to do away with MMR and most of the other childhood vaccinations decades ago.

Yes it is. We are currently in the midst of an extinction event that the fastest degrading of natural diversity since the Permian event. Even the asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs didn't get even close to what humans are doing. The only reason world's population ever exceeded one billion is the modern industry that allows us to rip this land even faster.
And even before that the agriculture, logging and hunting have been disastrous for hundreds of years. It might sound cringy but there really was a time when a squirrel could jump amongst the treetops from Spain to Greece without ever touching the land.

My old dog and I would go for walks in the woods for years. We would just dick around in the backyard for hours. Never once got a tick or saw it, even though I checked. She died a year ago. I was burying her and got a tick. Now every time I go out with my new dog he gets a tick. It's a curse.
