2. the more expensive version does so drinking it should be fine
3. it doesn't filter chemicals so heavy metals, poisonous etc go through. though unless you stick it in chinese factory water it should not matter. and only contain miniscule amounts.
4. taste like from a dead animal or shrek's swamp gas can be addressed with charcoal filter.
