>>1284260>Literally all of that depends on the breed. Except the taste. Show me one breed of sheep that out performs an equivalent breed of goat at anything other than wool production. Yes you will (usually) get more milk from an easy friesian than a boer, but you will get more yet from a nubian. In fact you will get between double and triple the milk from the nubian.
If you want meat boers are king. They can and will eat just about any green thing you put in front of them, and in my experience are far more resistant to parasites and illness than sheep.
>Lamb is a thousand times more popular than goat for a reason. The problem with lamb is it grows into dog dog food after 6 months. Don't get me wrong, lamb is a God tier meat and I eat a lot of it, but lambs have a short window where they don't taste like shit and the OP is asking about prepping, which I take to mean that his deep freeze wont be working. The best and easiest way to preserve meat that I know of is to keep it on the hood until you are ready to eat it, and that means that OP will be eating mutton more often than lamb should he go with sheep.
Also lamb is more popular than goat for the same reason that chicken is more popular than pheasant, and it has nothing to do with quality of meat. Please tell me, how much cotton are they growing in northern Europe these days?
