I just remembered something, one of my coworkers friends were out on Leaser Lake (by New Tripoli if there are any other Lehigh Valley bros in here) and they were kayaking when a storm hit and they couldn’t get off the lake in time

Yeah, once. I went four hours into the woods (~15km), left the area I'm familiar with by going into the valley next to it and attempted to get back with just my compass. After six hours, I realized I'd gotten lost, fell back on emergency protocol and just followed the nearest creek downwards. four more hours and I was out of the woods, 20km north of where I was supposed to be. turns out my compass had some internal damage and the needle would get stuck in a certain position, which had made me go the wrong way several times.

Yep and I just got back from it yesterday. Mt. Magazine, tallest mountain in Arkansas. I hiked Cove Lake Trail, a nine mile trail leading down or up the mountain. I went up because I wanted to actually climb the mountain. I'll greentext the rest

This is how I find new places, no online info in California and all the maps contradict eachother
