Let them laugh, you won't have mosquitoes in your face. They'd be just like the people at my old warehouse job that laughed at me for wearing gloves at work. Whenever they stuck their hands in some nasty shit they stopped laughing and said they wished they had a pair.

protip: buy a separate hat and mosquito headnet. i've been using pic related for the last 2 summers, and i'm fucking sick of dealing with rolling the net over the brim or having it drape over the back of my neck when here are no bugs. i've literally spent the last hour shopping for a new hat for this mosquito season.

and also when its separate you can sleep with it and stuff into a pocket easier. plus you can use your hat in the city like normal without looking strange.

wear long sleeves of thick material. Skeeters can bite through cotton. Wear a scarf, less area for the skeeter to neck ya. Grow facial hair and longer hair, similar reasoning. Wear a hat too, less area for them to get at you and they seem to be confused.

I've used them for work. If the mosquitos are bad then you'll be laughing at anyone who thinks you are autistic for wearing one. These things are essential for blackfly country. I've found they are helluva hard to see clearly through however if you are trying to examine anything in detail. Also they can get a little hot. I prefer the lighter coloured mesh because I feel it's slightly easier to see through.

get some permethrin spray and treat the hat, and your clothes and boots.
repels a variety of nasty fuckers and the military uses it.
lasts for a few washings of items sprayed.
