Which one would you rather move to?

I've been making plans to move out west for 3 years now and have been going back and forth between these two cities for a while. It will be one of them, and I know everything I can about them. I'm just curious to hear you guys' preference

Western cities are crab buckets. Overcrowded and everyone’s clamoring over each other to get out. Expensive as fuck cost of living. I mean all cities are cancerous, but Western ones are real bad. Keep looking till you can find a job somewhere smaller out there like Vernal or Logan or some shit.

Salt Lake. Besides the fact that I grew up in SW Wyoming, I've kind of always liked SLC. It's got a lot of spread on it too, so you don't have to live in the city itself if you don't want. Plus, I like snow.

I've never been to Portland but I hear it's quite a similar situation to Denver. Dramatic rise in population, high cost of living, homeless people increasing. There are so many places in the west that are perfect for /out/. Rather than limit yourself to a couple big cities, apply for jobs relevant to your career in a lot of smaller towns. It's hard to get a career in a specific city the smaller it is, but if you cast a wide net it shouldn't be too difficult.

1. Only beer brewed outside Utah has to be 3.2. Beer made in Utah can be any abv.
2. Utah state runs the retail liquor stores but again booze produced inside the state can be purchased from a retail operation owned by brewer/distiller. And yes, even in the state liquor stores there's cheap hooch (Like Canadian Hunter).
3. This law hasn't been enforced in decades.
4. Zion curtains were only marginally enforced and as of last year restaurants are allowed to take them down if they want to.
I spend my winters working and sling in Utah and there is no shortage of booze in Salt Lake. The non-Mormon population has exploded over the last few decades and the liquor scene has changed to accommodate it.

Id do salt lake only because I like all the /out/doors in Utah and I was born near Portland and watched the downfall first hand. Oregon and Washington are still good but those Snowy forest canyons and hoodoos in Utah are incredible. I enjoyed my stay at salt lake even more then when I had to go to drive to Portland for work.
