Trapping is a good idea, but there are many regulations and also green cunts who could work against you.

imo the best way to go about things would be trapping animals and fish/crabs, because these you just have to place out/repair from time to time and they work by themselves, and in the meantime you could get some sort homestead going.
The biggest profit you could make is with rabbits. The fuckers breed like hell (28 days of pregnancy, 6-10 on avarage) and as old as 50 days they are ready to butcher. You can also linebreed them and stuff like that, but at the end of your fisrt year you'd have about 50 rabbits, and at the end of your second year, that number goes up to 1200. Their meat and pelt are worth heaps, and they don't need that much attention if you set them up right (natural feeding on grass, good amount of water, poop collecting cages etc.) Also their manure is great for plants if mixed with grass clippings or sawshavings, you could sell that aswell.
