Let's talk elevation.
I used to think a hike with an elevation of 1000ft was tough cookies. After some training I can do up to 2000ft, but it's still rough going. At what elevation do your 'fit' hikers consider a hard day? 3000ft? 4000ft? Right now 2000ft is pretty brutal to me, I'm wiped out afterwards.
Is there some kind of baseline elevation people use to determine difficulty?
