What is the effect of food taste better when you eat it outdoors? Does it have a name?
Why does eating outdoors while camping / backpacking makes it taste so much better.

Image somewhat related; eating outdoors, with the added benefit of triggering non-normies.

I'm a desk jockey so one of my favorite things about backpacking is that when I eat alone the trail, even a snack, I feel my mood changes and I metabolise my food very quickly. Simple pleasure for someone who eats on a timer otherwise.

Chinese here. Rice, lop cheong or lop yeuk is really freaking good. Lots of fat with that protein though, so make what you will of that.Throw some furikake in the mix and it's oddly godly. I'm always a fan of spam and eggs.

fellow desk jockey here. i normally eat lunch alone in my office, so eating a meal with a friend in the day time at a cool spot is heavenly for me. during my bachelor party 9 of my best friends were all sitting on a long log eating lunch in the durring a weird hail strom at bryce. i just stood there smiling and staring i was so happy. dont remember what i ate but that was one of the best meals of my life.

For treats I like peanut m&ms or honey buns. However for meals my buddy and I make 'slop' when we go ice fishing. The slop consists of 1lb beef, 1 package idahoan potatoes, a large can of baked beans (bush's has a TON of varieties), and a bit of salt n pepper, we have seasoned the beef before but I generally don't bother. Fills ya right up and warms ya like hell.

Pig belly fat + onion + bread.
You can even cook it on a stick at a campfire in 15-20min, but if you do dont waste the lard, put it on the bread. Tastes good, has lots of calories, fills you up, takes up little place. (from Hungary)

For me it is the fire and smoke smell/flavor. Nothing else is enhanced if it hasn't been cooked over the fire. I eat outside nearly every day.

I mean it's pretty easy to keep dirt off you if you're camping, you don't really need to stick your hands in the dirt for anything besides maybe pegging out your tents, and if you're somewhere very grassy or mossy it's almost hard to get dirty.
