i'm pretty an oldfag. years ago ('79 to late 80's), close to where i live, i used to hike hundreds of km of desserted beaches for days and weeks, climbing dunes and camping in the middle of nowhere, fishing and sometimes hunting ducks with a slingshot, picking and eating clams and mussels. enjoying the silence and freedom, only ocasionally seeing a local fisherman or a coastguard patrol from a few lighthouses.
the whole shore was full of wild fauna, from wild pigs to pumas, from sea elephants and penguins to sharks, and you could only get in by foot or horse. some sectors were full of fossilized sea snails, some as big as my forearm. there were some amazing old shipwrecks you could reach by foot when the tide was low, and fish corvinas, solefish, shrimps, snails, all delicious.
it was THA SHIT.
now the whole place it's just a dirty park for stupid ATV and motocross racers, and stupid families in their USVs, planting gazebos and blasting their stereos all around.
literally kilometers of SUVs parked in a line by the shore, crunched almost all the clams so they don´t nest there anymore, all the fossilized snails are shattered by the continuous traffic, and you have to look carefully both sides and risk your life just to get to the water.
last time i was there i came back crying, and i don't think i'll ever return.
