Strawberry moon
>June's celestial event got its name from Native American tribes who used to mark it as the beginning of the strawberry harvesting season. However, cultures in Europe also commonly referred to it as the Honey Moon or Mead Moon for marital traditions.
Bob Berman, who runs the Overlook Observatory in Woodstock, claimed the term derives from ancient European marriage customs such as the tradition of taking the "sweet" holiday during the month of June's full moon.
