When you get your ski pass you have to attend a 2h safely course where they specifically mention an area to never go into because it's dangerous. Naturally, he went in there.
It looks like a normal run down the hill that looks like it goes down to the valley, but it drops off into a cliff halfway down. Only way out is a 5h hike back the way you came.
It was sundown so he kept going further and further off the track to find a way down. Ended up 10km from where he started, ditched his snowboard in the forest, found a bit of a hole and rested in it, spent 22h on the mountain before they found him and rescued by helicopter.
He doesn't talk about what happened that night, but he completely changed after it.
