To be honest, the US is getting just as bad. Anything they can regulate and create a bureaucracy for, they will. More government employees is exactly what these weirdo control freaks want.
By the way, the fees collected from "licensure," "certification," "regulation," etc. do very little to protect the public and everything to fund more government intrusion. Really hits home when you realize that the license to run a hot dog stand in NY's Central Park costs over $230,000.00...
