With the exception of having 3 leaves and 98% of people allergic to it, Poison Ivy is extremely similar.
They grow in the same level of light and rain, they both cling to trees (saw a 5" diameter Poison Ivy stem once it was effing crazy), and they both send up leaves clusters from the underground root system.
If you see Virginia Creeper, there's probably Poison Ivy around.
Once you get good at IDing PI, the only thing that'll fool you from a distance is a Box Elder Maple sapling. But it's not a common enough tree to make the false flags too much of a problem, and the leaf veins are different.
The PI in the pic is actually a rare presentation. They typically don't have that much of a sawtooth edge, and they can have nearly totally smooth edges. But, they're still easily ID'ed once you've seen them a few times.
