Have the possibility of buying an 80 acre ranch in the southwest. Considering it for peace and solitude. Completely off the grid tho so no water or power. What could go wrong?

Off the top of my head, anon: there's no money to be made there; the water rights belong to someone else; the mineral rights belong to someone else; the local crazies believe it belongs to them already; off-grid solar can get expensive; satellite internet is expensive; and, when it comes to women out there, the odds are good, because the goods are odd.

It would be worth researching O&G activity out there to make sure you're not at the edge of some play and a hundred wells are gonna fuck up your view. And yeah probably no mineral rights but it varies widely state to state on the water law in the southwest so you might not be screwed there.

I believe there is a a good aquifer for a well. I don’t know anything about solar, propane or septic systems, but hear they can be expensive. I am worried about these things. As for producing income, that would be nice, but I’m going to relax, not work.

I've got 333 acres of high scrub in Wyoming and my yearly property taxes are $518.

Waaaaaay too expensive still.
Lead acid sucks , but it is so much cheaper.
You have to learn about equalizing and watering them but if you do the maintenance they will last for years . By then prices should be going down.
