>>1323867It's possible anon, but you have to take a lot of things into consideration, because terraforming isn't a bag of peanuts.
Firstly, you need a source of water, whether that is local from an aquafer or your converting salt water, desalinization is difficult but the Israeli's and the Emirates are making great strides is making an easier system to produce clean drinking water.
Next thing to worry about is retention, this is why you have oasis's. It is a natural spring for water, and the plant life colonises the area.
You would need to deliberately design a system of holding ponds and swales in order to prevent run off loses, even then you will lose a lot of water to condensation.
Secondly plant life, you need plant life that is heat tolerant, drought tolerant, and good mixture of plants that add to the holding effect, for this read up on permaculture.

Also don't underestimate other methods to add to your income. If you make it something of a tourist destination, you can probably rake in some extra cash that way, as well as helping the local community with jobs, etc.
There is a farmer in the alps named Holtzer and half his business model is renting out cosy cabins to city types.
You might be able to get some grants as well if you aim it towards establishing an ecosystem for some of the rarer wildlife in the area.
It can be done anon, you just have to be willing to dedicate about 20 years or more to doing it.
