I've been working on this fishing lure that doesn't use a hook. It has two small powerful neodymium magnets that clamp the fish's mouth when it bites down. There is a little trigger piece that releases when it bites. I haven't used this yet but I wanted to post to see if any fishermen here think something like this would work, or if you have any suggestions. I filed a provisional patent cause it was cheap and I thought why not. Please let me know what you think about this and be honest if you think it is a terrible idea.
The pros of this are:
1. Causes less harm to fish
2. No danger of hooking yourself
3. Won't get snagged on weeds/rocks
