Greetings fellow /out/casts
I am currently looking to buy a machete that will be used mainly as an outdoors tool.
its main purpose will be to free larger logs of wood from thinner branches. so i wont have to use a saw or a much less ergonomic and straining hatchet. the background of that being that i will have to fell and process a few hundred trees in the coming months for hours on end.
having quiet a bit of experience with hatchets i found them to be a waste of energy as the blade is small and heavy. saws are pretty much the same deal. for trimming branches of a trees trunk on the ground they are very unergonomic. the only machete i have been able to test was a Fiskars product with a composite grip but am looking for something more classic and better balanced.
i am not looking for anything tacticool but the market is flooded with these products so it becomes hard to find anything made to last and excel under working conditions. a round or rectangular blunt tip is a plus since it might come handy as a wedge.
i figured since there are a bunch of knife-nuts who might be able to tell of experiences with assorted machetes and manufacturers.
i am deeply thankful for any replies and tips that might help me with my choice
