>>1339067>at a much cheaper priceMossberg 500 (basic wood-stocked 26" or 28" vent-rib field barrel): ~$320
Mossberg 590: NOT AVAILABLE WITH ANY FORM OF FIELD OR SLUG BARREL, cheapest tactical model is $460
Benelli Nova (basic plastic-stocked 26" or 28" vent-rib field barrel): ~$400
Browning BPS (basic wood-stocked 28" vent-rib field barrel): $520
While the BPS is a fair deal more expensive than the others, it's an extremely well-made shotgun that even the basic-bitch model will last a lifetime and still be an heirloom gun.
The Nova is only $80 more expensive than the cheapest 500 available and is significantly better quality, albeit ugly due to the black plastic furniture.
Mossberg's choke tubes fucking suck, they're the worst choke tubes on the market (even the cheapshit turkroach guns use poorly-made clones of Beretta/Benelli chokes) and are one of the oldest choke tube designs ever (Browning Invector, from 1959). They're very short and steep, which (marginally) increases felt recoil and will be much more picky about what shells pattern worth a shit, and even a "good" pattern through them will be inferior to a mediocre pattern through the Mobilchoke that Benelli uses or the Invector Plus that the BPS uses. Moreover, their design means that if you don't clean them regularly they will freeze in the gun from wad fouling hard enough to break your choke-tube wrench.
>>1339039I like my Citori 725 Sporting a lot but it would not make a good field gun, even if it were cheap enough I could stomach getting it scratched up.
