What are some good careers to get /out/?

I'm young and have a great yearning to spend most of my days being out. I've been currently bogged down in my career near a major US city and have been only staying in the city to keep doing what I'm doing. What would be, if any, career prospects worth pursuing to attain, at least in part, that lifestyle?

In the UK we have something called the National Trust which is responsible mainly for maintaining paths and doing building work in the national parks. I have a mate who does building work with them on celebs/rich peoples houses out innawoods. I'm sure your local national parks will have a similar stuff?

Forestry/wildlife tech, geology, land surveyor,arborist and landscaping are pretty out. Construction and oilfield jobs even driving truck will get you in the outdoors.
Oh and becoming a conservation officer usually way easier if you are a forestry and or wildlife background. I honestly never had an in job other then maybe an hour a day on computer.

I'm from the UK, I work at a local fishery nestled in a forest. General tasks vary from maintaining the lake and surrounding paths. I assume you must have pently of similar jobs in the states?

A lifestyle is much better than a career. I work at a distribution center making $19 a hour working 3 days a week. I camp 4-5 days a week.

I used to have a /out/ job in forestry and it’s not the same as living /out/.

This is accurate. Building your living situation around being /out/ is superior to building a career that allows you at some times to go /out/. This is also because it can drastically reduce your cost of living, which in turn reduces your need for earning money and time spent at work, which frees up the most valuable currency you have available: life time.

There's one good argument for making dough and that's security, especially for retirement. Besides that I'd free up as much time as possible so you can actually live your life and don't end up like those wage slaves with their empty expressions and constant complaining.

Not a career, but more a hobby.

I've been looking at either making or building my own sluice box depending on which option costs less.

I think when the incoming economic collapse from the recession looming, I'll have my shit ready and all the kinks in my operation figured out before shit gets bad and people get desperate.

Also considering taking some geology classes to learn more about how to extract value from the earth more efficiently.
