My Dad's side of the family in Utah and Wyoming are all miners. My great-great grandfather was a prospector with claims in the Needles district in Canyonlands, and even a silver mine near Telliride, CO. Huzzahs for undergrounds in general, for mining, and just bump for interest.

Irishfag here,my area is mostly limestone with many old caves and stuff lying about,there's one a short bike ride from me.
pretty large system by our standards,apparently with some ice age animal remains in,but the landowners blocked off all entrances and ringed it with barbed wire because LOL HEALTH AND SAFETY JUST IN THE VAGUE SENSE.Some passages were likely eaten by the nearby quarries anyway though.

I would've killed to have gone spelunking around in it,this is a boring place with little to do in terms of going /outside/
