I recently read about that anon's adventure in the Australian outback from a while ago and started wondering how well a dual sport or adventure type motorcycle would perform for the same purpose and how reliable they would be. I'm mostly concerned about cost for performance considering that anon said they spent $25,000 on their vehicle and another $8,000 on modifications, and they still had vehicle troubles with parts breaking when they were mostly just dealing with rough roads. Would a motorcycle be able to perform the same at the cost of comfort and carrying capacity?
