I do wish we could live in a world that uses the technology we have to reduce everyone's work hours to practically zero and keeps resource hogging luxuries to a minimum.
Loads of people I know say our current resource load is great or unchangeable because it gives us/ we are used to all the luxuries it brings. I wouldn't even be mad if the tradeoff for genuine sustainability and individual necessary work at almost zero would be fewer cars, limited or no jet transcontinental flight, no food grown over 200 miles away, much more basic vidya, etc. Why the fuck do I need to have access to pacific salmon, chocolate, or south American coffee in Europe? Will I die of boredom without EA shovelware or netflix? Of course not.
