Taits being the most rugged. It doubles in function as a hammer. It's a commercial radio and the price is $$$$. If you have the money, go for it.
Kenwood nicely built, reliable, will last 15-20 years if you get a replacement battery.$$$
Yaesu, Owned one a few years ago, worked ok.
Icom, lowest priced of the big names, I see most failures in these radios. But they are not bad radios. I would save up and get any of the above.
Chinesium, bao- quan sheng fang $$ There is a built in flashlight/ and it can tune FM stations. If you look at it the wrong way. Might not work. Stay away. A used radio of any of the above will probably work better.
