>>1355131Many years ago, I was in new Cabela's brand waterproof ankle boots, not sure what they call them, and rolled my ankle really badly. The boot soles were a hard plastic like substance that became super slippery on hard wet surfaces and the heel was undercut meaning your stride must be shorter or when your foot lands in front of you the heel slips out and you split. Well, the 2nd time I wore them for like 5 mins, that happened to me at the top of some steps. The foot slipped on the mission heel section (which is super wide on my normal shoes), skipped a step, and landed on the next step down. My foot and shin were an L-shape in respect to each other. I flipped the foot back into position in between strained gulps of air and scooted myself all the way back into my house. I cut the boot off and inspected it. Nothing was apparent. I had to get it x-rayed, but nothing was broken or torn loose. There was only a slight amount of bruising (it takes a great deal to bruise me for some reason) and almost no swelling at all.
I had to use crutches for an entire month and couldn't walk on it at all in that time. It also turned some of my hair white. Now I'm extremely careful in selecting and trying out new footwear. Those boots are just terrible for anything outside of 4 inches of mud. They had 0 grip on hard surfaces.
