>>1356790I like this little FanceeFeast stove. It's a light alcohol stove that gets me two cups boiling in about 7~ minutes. I've own a Jetboil Flash that used to be my go-to, I've also used twig stoves and those folder stoves that use the fuel that smells like rotten fish...
They all have their ups and downs. I think it's pretty cool being able to get water boiling and cook food with just a cat food can and some alcohol, plus it's a shit ton more quiet and less bulky than the jetboil was. I've also had problems with the jetboil warping aluminium tins when cooking in it, because the flame is just too damn hot and concentrated in the center. iirc MSR makes a better stove for cooking in a pan, but jetboil can get water boiling faster.
When it comes to my cuisine while /out/, I've been on the meme ketogenic diet for almost a year now and it's been interesting shifting from freeze-dried meals or potatoes to more fat based stuff. I don't cook quite as much and rather opt for carrying fat packs; That is, some ghee, coconut oil, avacado, meats. I like to make breakfast warm though, so freeze-dried eggs are usually on the list.
Also, if you're looking for something tastier that
>soup or scrambled eggscheck out Pack-it Gourmet, they've got a ton of pre constructed meals that are very tasty, much more than Mountain House (which are still pretty good). It's hard to beat frying a freshly caught trout over a campfire though, it's always fun to exercise the basics. Just play around and find what works best for you... Your preference will change over time.
