I work for the Forest Service

It's fucking awesome. Get paid to hike, camp, and run chainsaws in the spring, summer, and fall, then live off unemployment in the winter.

lol fuck no. It's enough to get by on but these aren't careers you get into to make money. I took a significant pay cut from doing construction to do this work.

Roustabout/VAC Operator in the Oilfield

It's alright, you get some lazy days but when shits active it's fucking active, rigs are always in scenic places but 90% of the time you're looking at the industrial aspect of what pertains to you.

14 an hour but I get a fuck ton of hours and overtime on top of that, each paycheck is 1000+ so in my opinion it's worth it considering what I was making before. Not to mention I get a week off to go do whatever the fuck I want

Any park rangers on /out/? US specifically, I am near the end of a CS degree and I am realizing I will hate my life if this is my career, I want to work outdoors not in front of a screen. I know related degrees like zoology, forestry, etc are better for becoming a park ranger, but is any bachelor’s degree probably enough?

Where are you that they're paying you that little? There's dudes in Midland, Tx right now clearing $100,000/year without any training at all.

And I live in Montana. We have the second-lowest average wages in the country.

Depends what state you’re in. I’m trying to become a forest ranger in NY, and work in the Adirondacks. Here you need a bachelors of some environmental science (im into environmental engineering) or assosciates with military background
