Also you might as well just get a pair of water shoes for like 10x less money since they'll be almost identical in most ways. Vibram makes good quality stuff but these are just for yoga hipsters to make themselves feel unique and contrarian.

They do look a little goofy as most barefoot shoes will, but not anything close to fivefingers levels of bizarre. People probably wouldn't even notice unless they were deliberately staring at your feet. They've also got steel toes, so they're good to have if you're worried about foot injuries. Only drawbacks I could think of are that they might not be within your budget once you add shipping costs and also that they're made of cotton, though you could just treat them to make oilskin boots.

Thought about getting normal minimalist shoes, but they still scrunch your feet up which negates a lot of the point of minimalist shoes to begin with. Either way it's a really good trade off between hiking boots and pure barefoot. On hikes >10 miles I like to switch to another shoe halfway though. Sucks to carry hiking boots in your pack, but the vibrams are light at least.

What's nice is they dry really quick and aren't uncomfortable when wet.

Standard Furoshiki actually cost $25 more than the clown shoes I'm recommending while failing to provide any justification (imo) for the price outside of being designed weird.
Also I just generally have more trust for stuff that comes from use in trades like the Fugus since there's nothing that goes into designing them aside from figuring out what works (though they've done some stuff to make them trendier and more appealing to /fa/ types). Don't get me wrong, the Furoshiki are solid shoes, but they aren't really worth the cost as I see it.

You could probably use them as ghetto reef shoes but they wouldn't protect you from a stonefish.

I used to hike in these but things to be wary of: twigs and stuff getting stuck between your toes, stopping on sharp rocks/roots, yes getting them wet sucks. If you’re going for a long hike/jog, definitely tape up your toes with medical tape first, I used to get a lot of blood blisters from them otherwise.
Also other joggers will try to fuck you in the ass bc they will assume you’re gay.
