I hiked during the nights a couple of times last month, and it was a great decision, really reccomend it.
First time, I started walking around 4 am on a trail though the woods and countryside stretching from the small village where I was staying, to a bigger town 10 km away. The sun started rising around 7.30. Moon was already gone, so nothing but darkness all around me. The stars were so many, could see the milky way clearly. Had my dim phone torch on most of the way, and since I was alone I was kinda worried something was going to happen. Not animals, there weren't any, but psychos looking to kill. Put calming instrumental music to feel less scared. If I turned off the light, it felt like walking through space. All senses but sight were heighte, but I could only hear my footsteps and a river (maybe luckily).
That being said, my phone connection was working and the signs easy to follow. I would choose a trail where you can still use your phone, if you're going alone for the first time.
The other times were with friends, and it is a different experience, not as special maybe but not as scary, def fun. Do it
