I know I cannot spray my rain jacket, but do I need to use deet at all if it's raining? My concerns are ticks. Thanks.

I've always just sprayed. I take it you like the creams. I'll have to give this a shot.

My concern was really about should I even use it if the rain would just wash it off.

Is that an accomplishment? I used to live in LI and the ticks were never a big issue for me.
I live in TN now and they're so much worse.

Permethrin seemed to work well for me. Kept finding dead bugs in my clothes when I walked around southeast asia for months. Plus I didn't die of typhus (or malaria! (Or syphilis! (but that probably wasn't the permethrin.)))

we camped in east li, I think my dog ended up with something like 30-40 over the span of a weekend. although they may just have been unusually bad that year, but I've never seen so many in my life.

Tractor Supply if you have one near you. Should be called "Gordon's Permethrin 10 Livestock and Premise Spray, 32 oz." and come in a container with two caps, one connected to a small container with measurement. Be sure to correctly dilute it and if you don't trust your dilution, test it out on the ants outside your house or something. Obviously, make sure you mix it/shake it well before trying it out.
