Something changes in my mind. I'm going to post too much here but I'm an engineer and I hate my life so fucking much I want to die every day.

Basically going /out/ forces me to think about nothing but survival and enjoying myself in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes I feel sad though since I see other people out there...

Walking down mountains is painful for me, maybe I’m just old. Also that boring flat 5 mile walk back to the car that seemingly goes on for eternity that every hike seems to have at the very end

I go to a very dense Forrest that most parks have to offer. It's maybe a mile by a half mile but it's dense enough to make you feel lost in a big forrest.

- Muddy wet gear (get FUCKED wool Larpers, wet wool is aids)

- The design of mainstream modern out gear, it looks like bad Mass Effect concept art and is way overpriced most of the time considering it’s all made in China bollocks. Just use some elegant timeless designs in your basic clothes, for fucks sake, it’s all going to end up in the Salvation Army anyway
- cold feet at night
- random rocks you somehow missed underneath your hip

Without sunscreen I will start to feel uncomfortable after 20-30 mins of exposure, and if a couple hours go by I'm roasted

I'm JUST starting to love going /out/doors, and bitey bugs are for sure my biggest issue.

It's great, when i'm /out/, I don't give 2 fucks about my phone / games / apps, other than just having service for emergency / 'where u at' calls to friends, i'm good just sitting in front of a camp fire, good drink, cooking, and just living in the moment.

Yeah? I actually have some superfeet green insoles coming in the mail tomorrow. I'm going to give those a go for about 20 miles this weekend and see what happens. The foot pain really doesn't kick in until about mile 10

My trick for bug bites is to not scratch. Scratching only irritates obviously, but if you tough it out for a few minutes, the need to itch goes away.
