Mushroom identification HELP

Is this mushroom edible?
I found it half borrowed and it smells quite good!
But I have never seen one like this, at the beginning I wasn't even sure it a was a mushromm but definetly is.
Please helpI am uncertain if to make pasta with it..

the first rule of mushrooms is assume every one is lethal, many mushrooms can mimic or be very similar in appearance to other mushrooms, one edible and another poisonous, it's best to assume they are all dangerous until proven otherwise.

Now for identification, the only sure proof way of doing that is a spore print, you cut the cap off and place it face down on paper then cover it with a lid to keep drafts from moving the spores around, then after a day you take a look at the spores that dropped onto the paper which will have a specific pattern to it.

Don't ask morons on 4chan who at best will have just a basic knowledge and at worst will try to convince yo to eat it which could literally kill you, goto an actual website with real experts

Australian here. Koalas tug the heartstrings more than Wombats but I reckon a Platypus is what you are after for a rare national treasure that people would be disgusted in the idea of someone eating.

Sorry, thought I was playing along. I didn't know Eagles were particularly endangered. I thought you chose them for comedic effect due to their national symbolism and rarity. Something that stood out as something that is just wrong to eat without knowing how critically endangered is.
That said wombats are common road kill and most people don't distinguish the Northern Hairy Nose as special. Most people don't get the chance to see a platypus outside of captivity and regard them as special and rare in a different way.
I may personally be particularly fond of them and bias too. Maybe.
Bilby would have been good too. Big campaign around saving them for years, Easter Bilbys are a thing. Can't eat a real one, no way.

No problem. The American eagle is no longer as endangered as they once were. When I was a kid, I and everybody else, assumed that they would never see one outside of a zoo. That is where the "tastes like eagle" joke comes from.

Boletaceae are by default edible and it poses no real threat to misidentify them. Some really rare ones are toxic but even they aren't lethal and it's hard to accidentally eat them since they are bright red.

Even if you get the so-called "poisonous" variety, just eat a little at a time over the course of 12 hours, or so. Your body will quickly develop immunity.

My sister lived on Oregon in the 90's and took a college class on Mushroom identification. The teacher was awesome and cute but she went out hunting one evening with her children and brought home dinner, the cleaned and cooked up the shrooms and that night 5 family members died, including 2 children grandmother her sister and the teacher. you can never be sure even with a stupid chart.
