>>1371008Ive taken my wife camping a few times. She has gone from absolutely hating it to "its not that bad I guess as long as its spring/fall, I can take a shower every few days, and you bring 10 gallons of bug spray with"
I broke her in slowly with our first /out/ experience being a cabin in a state park. Cabin as in electric, running water, and satellite tv". She wasnt overly excited, but she didnt outright hate that trip.
Our first time actually camping however didnt end well. We were going for a long weekend (Thur-Sun) and after the first night we ended up leaving mid day on Friday. The heat and the bugs were just too much for her.
After that I decided to work her into nature by day hiking just so she got use to being out in nature more.
Our third attempt went better. We camped in early October so the heat wasnt an issue and the mass of the bugs had died off. Her only real complaints that trip were she really didnt like pee'ing against a tree and she demanded to take a shower every other day
Now? She is good for 3-4 day trips as long as its at the right time of year and she gets to shower at least once. She still doesnt like doing her business in the woods though. Im not sure ill ever get her over that. Sadly that means she greatly greatly prefers large public camp grounds and primitive sites you can park a truck near so she can bring a composting toilet with
