Howdy, /out/siders. I enjoyed the last couple pipe threads, and lo and behold, a friend's grandfather made me this little number as a high school graduation gift. So, I popped on down to the local tobacco store with a different friend. He bought himself a little corncob of similar size, but much shinier. On reccomendation of the pretty young lady working the store that day, we purchased six ounces of tobacco, two ounces of three different blends. One of the blends tastes similar to rum, without the burn. One tastes a bit like coffee. The last tastes like blueberry pancakes, which just about blew my mind. We went on later that day to a small "hey, we're graduating" bro's night, with only my scarce knowledge from reading these pipe threads. There were many burnt fingers, but thankfully only a little wasted tobacco. We had a nice time. Built a fire, roasted some sausages, dressed like pirates, and had some celebratory champagne another friend had been saving. It was a good night. I just got through having a brief back porch smoke. I didn't get a good try at the blend that was called "Java Breeze" that night, I mostly smoked the one called "Sunset Rum". I didn't like it as much. Couldn't taste it quite as strongly as I could the others. Not bad, though. Seemed to light easier, but that may just be my experience talking. Anyway, what do you think of the pipe? What's some aromatics you recommend? I'm going semi-/out/(to a cabin in Mother Neff, I believe) with a larger group of friends to celebrate graduating. The sort that don't smoke or drink or go outside. Obviously, I'll want to enjoy the outdoors, and have a smoke or ten while I'm out there, and I don't want to suffer them too much.

Congratulations on graduating, sounds like you had fun party personally I've never really liked the looks of corncob pipes too much, they smoke great though if your going to be smoking around people who themselves don't smoke, try to go for something with a sweeter aroma, in my (limited) experience non smokers don't mind sweet aromas as much oh and have a fun trip

cool lookin' pipe...>>aromatics you recommend? Tobacco is nasty, and no type of flavoring is gonna change that. If you really want to enjoy that pipe, get a bag of weed.
Anonymous
Fucking loved my first corncob pipe, i packed some weed in it and started smoking in my room. After awhile my room started smelling like popcorn, but it was so worth it. The weed burned nice and added a bit of flavor.

Anyway, try to find a chocolate aromatic. I tried it once (don't know what it was called, sorry) and it was delicious. Weed is better though. More relaxing, feels better.

>>137186 >>137178 I'm not sure if you understand what aromatic means.
I'm hoping for tobacco that smells nice. I've yet to taste any I outright hated, and that's including cheap cigarettes that just finished drying after being dropped in possibly stagnate water. I want some that smells okay.
>>137176 Anything in particular you'd recommend? Lot's of people with nut and cinnamon allergies, so I'd like to avoid those smells. Not so muhc out of fear of giving them a reaction, but more because I suspect the smell would be unpleasant to them. Relation to bad experiences, you know.
But I'm not sure how nuts smell, really. Besides peanuts, anyway.

>>137207 I understood what you meant by aromatics, but I used the word flavoring 'cuz I didn't know what to call something added to produce a good smell. That being said, i still say that flavored tobacco smells nasty and I've never been around anyone that enjoyed the smell of someone else smoking a tobacco pipe. Just the opposite. Every time some hipster douche lights up their aromatic tobacco, there's a mass exodus of folks trying to get away before they vomit. If you take your pipe to the grad party, I'm sure this will be the reaction 'specially since you said they don't even smoke cigs.

>>137230 dude what
I've not tried any aromatic blends, but all the different non-cigarette tobaccos I've tried or been around have smelled either lovely, or at least not too horrible.
As opposed to the smell of cigarettes, which always makes me want to block up my nose.

>>137235 are you in Europe?
here in the States, smoking tobacco in a pipe is now very uncommon and even cigarette smoking seems to be less and less popular. this might explain the reactions I've seen when someone starts puffing on a pipe. there's also some really obnoxious blends that aren't suited to being used indoors or a public setting.

>>137699 If you'd pull your head out of your ass, you'd realize that I was making a joke. As in "of course it's the end all be all of smoking pleasures and has magical properties"
A lot of stoners act retarded because they were fuckin' retarded before they ever smoked their first joint. I could say that all tobacco pipe smokers I've been around are narcissistic douche bags, looking for attention or that all the beer drinkers I've seen are interbred rednecks, itching for a fight and that would be almost true but I know that isn't always the case.
Try lighting up "in the wild" (as you call it) and you might find that your preconceived notions are BS.
and btw you put no emphasis on the the word "act" you pussified cocksucker.

I'm a casual pipesmoker but when I'm out I prefer cigars since it's much easier. Not some fancy Cuban churchill or something, but nice cheap locally made ones. Beer-drinkers, pipe-smokers, and anyone who turns their substance use into a lifestyle are dipshits. Personally I drink, smoke pipe tobacco and cigars, and smoke weed. They're all fun and we shouldn't refuse to try substances just because of their associated subcultures. Everyone on /out/ should try smoking weed outdoors at least once, along with a psychedelic. Shrooms and the wilderness are the single greatest combination in the world.

I will either smoke a Cigars I pick up from across the border they are from a nice little island. But when I don't have cigars I take along my pipe and smoke it during the slower part of the day , after a meal , while camping or on a hunt. Pipe is a nice gift, I smoke cherry or apple flavored pipe tobacco mostly. Also release a couger into the party to get everyone outside.
Madsen Maskingevær
>>139425 I've heard the especially cherry flavoured tobacco has a bad habit of "staying" in the pipe? have you had any problems with that or do you not care since its what you mostly smoke? I've never tried it because I'm a pussy and scared I wont like it and it'll stay in my pipe forever

>>139475 Yes, but it depends a lot on the material the pipe is made out of. Corncobs, supposedly, have this issue the least, so they're often used as neutral pipes for trying out or experimenting with new blends. They're also cheap as shit, so that helps.

>>137170 Aromatics are okay but you should seriously considering moving onto English blends for the complexity of them. Aromatics goop up your pipe too. Tobacco itself is a wonderful taste, you should give it a shot. I'd recommend Samuel Gawith Best Brown (or was it Best Dark? whatever I forget the name but it's one of those two).
Real tobacco will have all sorts of taste - pine, spice, grass, dirt, really nice earthy tastes.
