Learn a trade, like welding, accept all of the conditions you get offered, prepare for rejection and when you get a job try to perform as your life depended on it.

25$ is low for fly by night jobs. Both myself and my father do our own jobs for clients and we always pay our ground guys 20, our tree guy 40, and if we use a cherry picker that's around a 100 an hour. On most jobs we'll make around 50-100 an hour after we pay the other guys. This is all part time hobby stuff for us and we're looking at two jobs a week or so. He gets more in his area in the summer but I'll stay busy year round. There's an art to using a saw but I don't think it's something that takes a few years to learn. If you can tie a bowline and have a basic understanding of how to notch a tree you'll be good. You won't be doing any jump cuts right away but if you get a portawrap and a ground guy you can take down pretty much anything.

If your not that your military. Currently working in some mountains in the middle of fucking nowhere WV. Get your fucking union book, I'm labor local 790 but I'm from Oklahoma. Keystone XL is jumping off next year and they will be in desperate need for hands, green or otherwise. Oh yeah and I make 2k a week.

People who have been to prison are normally career criminals. So, getting jobs where they can easily case places to rob later makes a lot of sense.

Pretty much this. Doing distribution as a lineman isn’t very /out/ but when you’re on a transmission job you’re hsually out in the middle of fucking nowhere. I remember riding ATVS to the work sites and eating lunch on top of 115 foot structures and such. Great times.

I've worked for Precision, Snelson and Latex. Precision pipeline is the largest company you've probably never heard of. Was with them in Ohio a few months back doing a river crossing on a directional drilling crew. Worked every single day for 2.5 months 18-20 hour days. $33 hr plus anything of 40 hrs a week is time and a half. Was making like 2900 every Friday. Now I'm on a tie in crew with Snelson in WV. We get every other Sunday and only have to work til 5. That's nice and all but I like money. Nothing better than making 47k in 4 months and flying my happy ass home for a month off. It's medium level labor if your in the hills, if not it's easy as fuck. You get payed slot because it's dangerous. The pipe is 225lbs per six inches. One section is 40ft. We lower in pipe that may be 17-20 sections at a time with 5-7 tractors with booms. There's a lot of weight and a lot of people. Those two don't go well together. Just watch a video of booms lowering in 42 inch pipe. Or fuck just anything about pipelines or the row. It's a fun job with good pay and more opportunities to travel than military. Can't be a pussy and a pipeliner though.

Precision is the largest company by a big margin. They have the newest machines, the biggest contracts and practically control the world, but nobody knows that. If you get on with precision, expect to work more hours than anyone else. They treat you good by supplying with the best equipment, but you better damn well work. Snelson is alright, but they lack the money and power precision has. Every once and a while I see a Cat type R. Those things are well known as death traps out here because of how shiity they are. Don't work for latex, turn that job down. There's probably a couple hundred pipeline companies out there. The three best are going to be Precision, Snelson or Hinkle's + McCoy. The very first thing you have to do before getting this job is get in a union hall. Find your local labor union or any labor union that's selling books. If you're anywhere near Roanoke VA I know they still are. Union is the first step.

Get into roofing. You can usually start off as a laborer if you don't have any skills and work your way up to being a shingler. You will get in great shape and get mad respect from other tradesmen. Only downside is it's hard on your body so most people don't do it longer than ten years plus it's dangerous as fuck. Most companies don't care how much prison time you've done as long as you show up to work.

There are non union pipeline jobs, but it's small pipe and the job goes by way to fast. Also they treat you like shit. Yes you need to join a local labor union before they will hire you. My book was $207 and I pay $28 a month. All of that money comes back to you in the long run. If you got an email or a Snapchat post it and I'll hit you up with info that pipeliners usually keep to themselves. Almost everyone out here that knows what they are doing and has a position with power is from Oklahoma. The very first pipeline company, union and pipeline ever all started in my state. These guys do everything they can to keep the community as tight as possible so there's a lot of info you can't just google and find. You have to actually talk to somebody already in.

Oh I definitely wouldn't want a pipeline job that isn't union. Worked enough non-union mill and warehouse jobs to know they will fuck you face down. Joining a union first then applying for a job is out of the ordinary to me. (Idc about dues, they're nothing, and a couple hundred to join isn't a big deal either. I thought it would be a grand or two.)

Piss easy to get jobs and good pay too because to the average person getting up at 2am or getting your hands dirty isn't cool though for them.
Like 90% of the company I worked for was elderly people because they couldn't find anyone under 60 that wanted work.
