>>1377016I used to drive a 1990 Cummins W250 4x4, all mechanical, but it beat my ass to death off road. Drove a newer Tacoma 4x4 for a few days as rental while traveling, actually had to use 4 high in some mud. It put the hook in me. I bought a 2006 4Runner v6 4x4 in like new condition just a couple weeks after.
No solid front axle, diesel, or leaf springs anymore... I'll have to baby it and keep it maintained, but damn it's comfortable and gets 20+ mpg on the highway. Shares parts with tacoma and other Toyotas, so repair or parts should be possible anywhere in the world.
I will put a decent 2-3 in lift and some all terrains on it and call it good. Already did surprisingly well in Moab on some easy trails. It's going to hurt selling the old Dodge Cummins, but it's going.
