ITT: Experiences with drugs and the outdoors

I'll start.

>be at Philmont on two week backpacking trip with Boy Scouts
>friend, Mike, brought 12g of shrooms in gel capsules
>they sit in his bag for about four days
>get to Beaubien, a cowboy camp with prairies, horses, and cattle
>have a day off
>morning of our day off, friend whips out the shrooms
>he, a guy named Paul, and I take them
>sit around throwing rocks for about 30 minutes
>it kicks in
>senior patrol leader - a square - approaches and tells us the crew is going to hike to the top of a nearby mountain where a crashed B-29 is
>we start peaking right as we set off
>the three of us set pace, go nice and slow as we appreciate the beauty of the valley we're in
>my ego dies somewhere along the way
>I start referring to myself as "we" and rambling about the problems humanity faces, thought loop of "it's us against them"
>watching flowers explode into fractals and mountainsides melt
>everything is beautiful and nothing hurt
>after a couple hours we're almost done peaking
>we're less than 300 feet from the summit
>suddenly a thunderstorm rolls right over us
>we sit under trees and eat lunch
>I watch a lightning bolt strike a tree farther up the mountain
>the tree catches fire
>it's multicolored and glows withenergy
>in my mind the tree is a contemporary incarnation of The Burning Bush
>feel compelled to summit the mountain because, as I learned in Sunday School, the Bush shows the way
>I charge the summit, in the throes of a shroom trip, during a thunderstorm
>somehow survive, make it back down
>I lay in the grass and watch the clouds shift and roll and feel tingles of joy and ecstasy shoot throughout my body
>scoutmaster and SPL are yelling at me
>I tell them "It's alright. We did it. We showed us the way."
>they start giving me water cause they think I'm delirious with dehydration
>lay there like a king as two of my "superiors" pour water and Tang into my mouth
>come down as the storm ends

It was beautiful.
