/out/, you are my new favourite board. I am a noob at everything outdoors. Help me choose a tent.

Ideally, I'd like something for 2 or 3 people, the cheapest possible because I am poor, and I don't mind having it hardcore. Is pic-related any good? It's 20 dollars. I don't know its specifics.

ITT: tents and sleeping bags.

you want super cheap just go to wallmart
their tents aren't made to climb a mountain but for a small trip with a friend or two they're fine as long as you take care of them and don't leave it in the sack wet to rot

Niggas, hear my call. I am going to spend Christmas alone because #orphan and no family. I have never done this, but it's a challenge I want.

I need to know what to get in terms of sleeping bags and equipment.

I've learned a few skills, but they're 100% theoric so far.

Because making your own fire in places that aren't indicated is illegal here. So I'll have to be stealthy.

Help me with my Christmas project.

Is this even considerable? It's cheaper and gives you more room, but I suspect it may not be very warm. I intend to camp in winter.

Whichever one was rated well below the lowest temperature I expect to use it in. Except for summer, then I’d just use a light blanket or a bag liner instead of a sleeping bag at all.

The main reason i use a tent is bugs, rain and wind. Snow and wind are a concern while Christmas camping.

It's $178, you get a nice 2p tent with rain gutters, and a nice rain fly and footprint tarp.

The self inflate pad is really nice and fairly tough, I'm 6' and I still have plenty of room.

The sleep bag fully unzips and can double as a nice blanket. Has a inside pocket too. It's rated for 30, closet I've camped is 41 and I was toast but not sweaty.

I've had this bundle for about a year and it's holding up well, I have upgraded to a Marmot Tungsten 2p tent that I couldn't say no to. Still rocking the other stuff.

Keep in mind, getting a lifetime membership is $20 one time, they cut you a $20 gift card, so it's a wash.

Additionally you get a full year, no questions asked returns. You didn't like this shit? Return it zero issues.

Might get some hate for this, but I'm probably gonna pick up an REI half-dome 2 plus. They re-did the already well known tent for 2018, and its been pretty well received. Just got back from elk camp, got destroyed in an epic hail/rainstorm. Water was coming through the seams and such, I got wrecked. I was in my trusty WalMart brand (Ozark Trail) tent. My brother was totally dry in his ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 2-man, those are only $104 on Amazon right now.
