I’m not really new to going /out/ . I fish often but when I go camping I’m pretty dependent on my car being near. Any suggestions for a pack that can carry basic shit for a 1-2 day overnight?

It's more than enough to fit everything you stated and it's enough to fit gear for a week to week and a half trip. But if you are looking to move fast and more quickly and have the ability to move around without all the extra pack bulk the square frame doesn't lend itself too good it suffers from the same issue as the m90 you mentioned where it sticks out pretty bad and that is not super desireable but the fact is I would get it because if you decide you want to push your trips out more and more then you can up load your pack.

the deuter futura packs are pretty decent. the 50+10L should be enough space. I have the older deuter rise packs and love them for fishing trips. Lots of attachment points and pockets. Well constructed backs overall and comfortable. The only other brand I liked was Mammut but they werent as versatile. Everything else I tried either seemed to flimsy or lacked features.

LK35 Poster here. I swapped the straps out for MOLLE straps and added a waist belt. With these mods it's comfy as hell. I've had it for two years now and I love it. Anything that doesn't fit inside can go above or below because of the straps. Like the other Anon said you can go out for week and a half with it. It's also water proof. I live in the PNW, my gear has never gotten wet in it. I've never had any issues with the frame sticking out myself and I like to go into the bush but it is square for sure. I picked it up for $50 incl shipping and the thing is bulletproof. My Arctyrx stays at home.

You can get a medium alice pack, built like a brick shithouse for 30-50 bucks at your local surplus store. I bought one at a flea market for 25 bucks as a kid and have used it my entire life. It's now my bushcraft pack and i love it dearly.

For a single night, I use a 32L pack. It's plenty big. Remember that if you can't have a fire, cooking takes considerably more equipment. If you eat dry foods only, you can pack way way less. (You can go two days without a hot meal, right?) Having to cook hot meals means having to bring cookware, utensils, a stove, extra water or a purifier, and the food itself.

i will never understand this logic. if i'm only carrying it for a couple days you're damn right i'll eat the weight of a stove and pot for a hot dinner at the end of the day. plus fresh meat and vegetables, a couple beers, and good coffee for the morning.
