Like a sleeping bag, but with the insulation swapped for collectible material
You’d never have to touch the raw material because it would be inside the bag’s baffles, as long as you wore clothes you wouldn’t even feel the pokiness of the leaves through the bag’s baffles

I might try this. Man, after fishnet anon, this board has some interesting ideas

Big spiders and centipedes can bite through quite a bit. Mold spores get through easily. Moist racoon turds mush nasty wetness through. Ticks are sequestered.

Would this be a problem with, say, dead standing grass, fresh grass, living bush and tree foliage etc? I get that I should avoid mulch and moulding leaf litter, but is it the same for live flora? That stuff seems pretty clean relatively, we tramp and brush through it quite happily and bedding down on top of moss doesn’t seem to bother many people

Due to their repellent nature, they'd probably be the best thing you can use so long as the odor doesn't bother you. The biggest downside is oozing sap making a mess. Most everything else has stuff hiding in/on it.

To continue to pick your brains, what if I used an impregnable layer to keep the insulation in? Something like silpoly or even cuben, which could be wiped down? Ty for the pine knowledge

I'm not familiar with those materials, but if it is solid like a sheet of plastic then it would probably be fine. Keep in mind that this fuss isn't much since you may have worse problems at home with your mattress and pillow. They tend to have all the nasty stuff you can imagine inside them in respect to mold, dust mites, and dead skin, regardless of how much you clean them.
